Dun Laoghaire, is always moving with the times. Each week the many bars and venues in the area provide entertainment, much of it for free.
The town plays host to one of Ireland's most popular festivals in Ireland. For one weekend every summer, the world comes to Dun Laoghaire for the Festival of World Cultures (not held 2011). It brings up to 200,000 visitors to the town to enjoy song, dance, food and craic from around the world.
In recent years the Mountains to the Sea Book Festival has attracted some of the biggest names in literature from home and abroad and has been highly acclaimed.
