Dun Laoghaire Seafront & Harbour has always been a popular place to take a stroll at the weekend or indeed any day. Enjoy the Sunday Market in the People's Park, buy an ice cream in Teddy's, stroll down through Newtownsmith to Sandycove, the Joyce Tower and the Fortyfoot. Or head in the other direction and take in the Victorian promenade along the way to the East Pier, passing the Crimean Cannon standing guard over Scotsman's Bay and on to "The Pavilion Quarter".
The seafront plays host to many public occasions. Often it can be turned into an amusement park with waltzers, dodgems and chairaplanes. It also plays its part in local sporting events as it's been the starting point of the Bay 10k, as well as the route. In the past it's also been the location of the Giant Live Music Festival Stage. A recent addition is the public gymnasium at the Sandycove end, has to be one of the best locations to work out I've been to.
There's plenty of places to stop off and grab a bite to eat or have a coffee along the way, maybe even a little shopping too.
