Dun Laoghaire Community Association in association with the "Community Against Clamping" campaign invites you, your friends and your work colleagues to a PUBLIC MEETING on Tuesday 24th April 2007 at 8pm in the Kingston Hotel, Dun Laoghaire.

    Background....

From June 1st 2007 Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council will be introducing vehicle clamping and you, as a citizen, will NOT be consulted.

Vehicle clamping will be operative on a SEVEN DAY basis throughout the County and it will be controlled by a private company.

This draconian traffic management policy also envisages an extension of the hours for the “Pay and Display” parking up to 10 o’clock at night including SUNDAYS ALL DAY!!

These measures will impact greatly on the quality of life of the residents and will dissuade visitors and shoppers from coming here.

As a resident you are now being forced to live in a large municipal “Pay and Display” car park right outside your door or garden gate. Why?

You will get a Parking Ticket outside your own home and you could be clamped for non-payment of the penalty fine.

The County Council will vigorously enforce the parking and clamping regime without any consideration of the needs of the people who live, work or visit Dún Laoghaire Rathdown.

In addition the County Council plans to increase the cost of the “Pay and Display” is this not just another rip-off stealth tax?

Family and friends visiting your home in the evening or on Sundays will be forced to “Pay and Display” or face being clamped. Is this not a petty attack on your family and home life by the County Council?

Using your car to attend at Sunday worship will require “Pay and Display” what about the elderly or those with young families who must use their cars? What about funerals and weddings? Is this a “Tax on Worship” ?

Visitors and residents will be dissuaded from enjoying the coastal amenities by “Pay and Display” and clamping along “Dublin’s Riviera”.

Clamping is opposed by Dún Laoghaire Business Association, Dún Laoghaire Community Association, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber of Commerce and Business and Residents’ Associations and Groups throughout the County

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT -- PLEASE ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT PUBLIC MEETING.
