Membership is open to everyone interested in genealogy, social history or heraldry. It has also been requested that mailing addresses should be included to assist those without Internet access. QUERIES PUBLISHED

Editor's Note

Queries from Members and friends will be published in “The Genie Gazette” provided that a full postal address is provided with each query. Queries with just an E-mail address will NOT be published as it has been noted that E-mail addresses are changed frequently and thus, a person reading such a query in a few months time cannot make contact with the person placing the query in this newsletter. REMEMBER, this Society does not undertake commercial research assignments whether in the Society’s own Archive or in other repositories. HOWEVER, by placing a query with an offer of reciprocal research in your part of the world, publication can assist in the location of a Member or other reader willing to undertake research for you. The terms governing such reciprocal research are entirely a matter for the parties concerned and, therefore, the Society is not responsible in anyway for such arrangements. A number of queries received for publication have been held over for the November issue. These queries will also be uploaded on to our new website in due course. Readers are invited to visit this new website and, as always, suggestions and comments are most welcome.

Henry emigrated to America in1810, married an English born Maryland lady and settled in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. I have a complete history of the descendants from Joseph down to my grandchildren. PATRICIA WHEELER.

10, St John's Lane, Heathwood, Hartley Longfield
Kent, DA3 8ET England

E-mail: pfewheeler@tiscali.co.uk Wrote:- My father, Francis Patrick Larrigan, was born on 12th August 1899-1901 in Co Dublin. His mother (Anne?) died when, or soon after he was born, he had no siblings. His religion was R/C. He came to England and married my mother in 1930, in Medway Kent, England and the marriage certificate states his father as John Larrigan, deceased. My father died in Gillingham Kent in 1972. I have been to Dublin and searched all the Civil Records at Joyce House Dublin for births, marriages, (John & Anne Larrigan), and deaths. - Nothing found. The only part I didn’t search was the late entries at the back of the record books. As my Grandmother died when my father was born I suppose it is possible that registering his birth could have been done at a later date. As far as I know he had no siblings. As the censuses for 1901 & 1911 are not indexed and I do not know where in Co. Dublin to look, I have been unable to search those records. I have contacted the Heritage Centres in Dublin but nothing came to light. As my father’s family were R/C I am sure Church records might reveal something, however again I am flummoxed as I do not know where to look in Co. Dublin. Any suggestions very much appreciated.

In 1845 it was renamed "Pruntytown" in his honour. Their children: Thomas, born 1738. James, born 1743. Bragan, born 1745 William, born 1749, Robert, born 1750. John, born ca 1752. DONALD JOE LEE,

1020 Clinton St., Carrollton, Texas 75007, USA.

E-mail: donjoy.1@juno.com Wrote:- my ancestors for three generations lived in Southeastern North Carolina or Northeastern South Carolina, USA. My father is Jesse Thomas Lee and my grandfather is Samuel James Lee. My great grandfather is Joseph Lee believed to have been born in 1810 but nothing is known about his birthplace or ancestors. Was he from England or Ireland? A family legend is that Joseph was an Irish horse thief who stowed away on a ship bound for America and jumped ship in South Carolina. Another legend is he was a descendant of the Lees from Shropshire, England who migrated to American in the 1600's. Through records believed to be correct, the following is known: Joseph Lee married Priscilla Smith 1/6/1862 in Conway or All Saints Parish, South Carolina. In 1870 census, he was 60 years old and lived in the Dogwood Neck Township, Horry County, South Carolina with wife Priscilla and 4 children including my grandfather Samuel. In 1902 he lived with son Samuel in Shallotte Township, Brunswick County, North Carolina. No other records have been found. Any suggestions or connections most welcome.
