One Million St Patrick's Day Cards Sent
Published 19/03/2002

An Post expects to carry a record number of St Patrick's Day greetings cards to international destinations over the coming fortnight. Corporate orders for An Post postage paid cards are significantly up on last years, as more Irish export companies are sending St Patrick's day cards to overseas clients as part of marketing and client communications campaigns.

A colourful new range of St Patrick's Day postcards have been produced by An Post. An Post's Patricia O'Keefe said that the initial feedback through post offices indicates an increased level of interest in cards featuring Celtic images and the traditional St Patrick's Day message of 'Peace.'

Last year's customer research showed that of one million St Patrick's Day cards bought in port offices, 48% were destined for Britain and Europe, 23% for the USA and Canada, 16% for addresses in Ireland and 13% for Australia and the rest of the world.
