Power Yoga Ireland

I started doing yoga for the sole reason of losing weight (the story of my life and many others). The spiritual element of yoga wasn't even a consideration in my plan. The only spirit in my life was vodka. In my bedroom I found the yoga bible Light on Yoga in the early 1990's (no one knows how it got there). My yoga practice was sporadic to say the least. In 1998 things changed dramatically.

I had my first power yoga class with the wonderful Bryan Kest and I have never looked back. Yoga became entwined in my life in a very subtle way. The first thing was the change in my body. I started to actually like it and with that I also definitely started to feel calmer, more self confident, liking me and a host of other beneficial things. I began to realize that the world I was in - I was an actress at that time - wasn't going to fulfill all my needs and it wasn't making me happy.

I decided one Sunday morning when I went to a yoga class that I was going to teach yoga and come home to Dublin. The next week I went home to Dublin and wanted to do classes there and there was only courses - no drop-in classes. I decided there and then to come back to Dublin and set up drop-in classes. I went back to Los Angeles and I immediately found a great yoga teacher training school in the Centre for Yoga in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. During the next six months I ate, slept and breathed yoga - going to every amazing yoga teacher in Los Angeles and I trained.

I returned to Dublin and set up the classes in January 2001, adding some of my own personality into it using music which no-one else was doing. I have been so lucky with the classes and I have met the most amazing people. The beauty of yoga is you never stop learning. I thank God every day for my yoga. It has brought me peace of mind, peace of body and most of all peace of the spirit and soul.
